What type of tools or media do you use?

I experiment in all different media.

Where is the place you would like to work or be an Intern if you had a choice?

As long as I can design for a living, I have no preference where I work as
long as the environment is inspiring.

Who do you think are the top character designers out there?

Oh, so many. Gerald Scarfe is just awesome! Jack Potter has beautiful
simplicity. Craig Frazier for his great concepts! They're not exactly
character designers, but among my inspirations.

What are some of your favorite character designs which you have seen?

Some of the first character designs to really catch my eye were
embarrassingly simple. I think I carry that simplicity into my designs to
this day. My initial inspirations are mascots. Mario, Sonic, and Bonk.
Sprites! Simplicity has always been of interest to be because of the nature
of early video game design.

What is your most favorite subject to draw? And why?

Faces. I could draw faces until the end of time. There is noting more
rewarding than finding a unique ensemble of features that tell you something
personal.

What inspired you to become an Artist?

The insatiable desire to create. My mind has always been an obsessive
creating machine. When I'm not drawing, I'm thinking about my next drawing.

What type of tools or media do you use?

pitt pens (I particularly like the brush pen), pencils, photoshop, markers, watercolor, and the occasional yellow sharpie.

Where is the place you would like to work or be an Intern if you had a choice?

Warner Brothers animation, circa 1940. Or Pixar. Pixar would be good too.

Who do you think are the top character designers out there?

Geefwee Boedoe, Peter DeSeve, Frank Espinosa

What are some of your favorite character designs which you have seen?

Jack Kirby's designs for the Inhumans and New Gods, Richard Scarry's early painted work is brimming with charm, most anything by Mary Blair, Bob Staake's childrens books.

What is your most favorite subject to draw? And why?

Right now it's hoboes, due to my involvement in the 700 hoboes project. Several artists are illustrating all of the ficticious hobo names listed in John Hodgman's book "the Areas of My Expertise". The list is full of funny references to literature and pop culture and movies and all sorts of fodder for the imagination.

What inspired you to become an Artist?

Watching my dad draw.

What are some of your favorite website links that would be relevant to this Blog?

e-hobo.com, and I think everyone interested in animation or cartooning should be reading John K's blog: http://johnkstuff.blogspot.com/
